Christmas 2008
December 11th, 2008
WARNING: If you are expecting a handmade gift from the Woog this year, wait until after Christmas to read this post!
We haven’t done and official Woogie Wednesday in quite a while so yesterday we devoted the entire day to it. We worked on Christmas gifts for the Woog. Next Wednesday we’ll do some baking for her gifts too since she loves to cook. We started out making gift tags, so she drew a snowman and wrote her name:
Then I scanned it into the computer, resized it and printed it out (I’m only using yellow paper because it was left in my printer from our Christmas Cards) and got all the supplies together:
Then I let her rub her pencil around the entire back for the transfer:
Then I transfered her snowman and name and carved it out while she played with all the carved bits and ended up making a huge mess (so glad this is in my studio!):
Then we inked them to see if I needed to carve anymore:
And them the stamping began:
Then, we worked on the gifts. I found some unpainted wooden frames at Hobby Lobby several months ago and spray painted them with chalkboard paint. Then she signed the back of each one and drew a heart on pink paper and glued those on. Then I made the chalk holder with ribbon. We then took a mini photo shoot out back for the picture, printed those and then she dream on each of the chalk boards before we wrapped them. This is one that we made to keep and I drew on this one:
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

pattern

She painted the base coat and I added painted layers and did the stamping. These are from an assignment I’m currently working on. They will actually be used for backgrounds of small illustration vignettes.

3 minute drawing class
July 23rd, 2008
I’m trying to get a book project completed today so not too much time for a “true” WW project but today we had a 3 minute drawing class. We drew a lion and I roughly sketched out each feature and then she drew each feature in her “sketchbook.” Looks pretty good!
This gave me an idea for another fun project so stay tuned for that. We also have the unicorn to make from 2 weeks ago. It’s sitting on my desk all painted and ready to be junked.

No Woogie Wednesday project today because we’re in Austin, TX. I was thinking we might be able to fit something in but our day is pretty full so we’ll try next week.

Woogie Weekend
May 12th, 2008
Woogie Wednesdays haven’t been happening for a while but we did have a Woogie Weekend and made Mother’s Day gifts for the Grandmas. She loved stacking the buttons and arranging the flowers in all their vases.

Cupcakes
April 9th, 2008
The Woog turns 4 on Saturday so we spent some time today making cupcakes for her Mother’s-Day-Out class tomorrow. She wanted a Tinkerbell birthday and since I don’t care for character themed parties, clothes or home decor I told her she could have her Tinkerbell birthday at school and then we’d have her “W” birthday at home. She seemed excited with that so we have Tinkerbell blow horns, napkins, hats and cupcakes all ready for school tomorrow!

traveling tail
March 12th, 2008
We FINALLY (sorry guys!) got around to putting on the tail and taking a picture. Traveling Tales is the brainchild of Stacy at Mama’s Doodles. Here’s the flickr group with instructions. She’s currently on maternity leave but go ahead and bookmark her shop here and in the future you can get a tail all your own.

This is a Weird one!
January 30th, 2008
This time we picked out her stuff and I have to say, it’s pretty weird! Not real sure what else to say about it. No harm was done to the Maria Osmond doll while making this piece:)

Big Head Monkey
January 24th, 2008
I did my part from yesterday’s Woogie Wednesday today. I took her big head and made it into a big headed monkey. I’ve been doing some different illustration work with found objects similar to this. So that’s it. We’re off to the circus where I don’t know if there will be monkeys or not. If it was up to me, I’d say bring them on!
