3 days to go!
August 12th, 2009

Knowing my work, you should have expected an alphabet so that’s what we did today. The Woog wrote her alphabet and I used her letters in this design.

4 days to go!
August 10th, 2009

Picked some veggies in our garden today and decided to make a school picture of them all. I took the picture, printed it out and let her draw on that then overlayed her image onto the photograph. She decided to name all the kids (veggies) in her class (totally made up of course):

l to r: Mrs. M., (top row) Walker, Rexie (Principal’s son), Kate, Taylor, Principal, (bottom row) Malone, John, Luke

You can take a look at my quick one here.

5 days to go!
August 10th, 2009

Didn’t get a chance to post things yesterday but we did finger print art. This is apparently what we will all look like on the first day of school (art directed completely by the Woog).

We had done a piece together today and while getting the post together I heard her in the Kitchen yell “Daddy, come look at my bus, it’s better than Mommy’s!” So you be the be the judge (I think her’s is better). Her’s is below and ours is here.

7 days to go!
August 7th, 2009

Today we visited my MIL and she gave the Woog a bag a school supplies so the entire way home she drew pictures. Most were portraits and the one she did of her daddy as a duck chicken was hilarious. It’s isn’t school themed but made with brand new school supplies so I guess that counts.

You an see my art for the day here.

8 days to go!
August 6th, 2009

We marked another day off our countdown calendar! Yesterday morning we started “training” for getting up early, eating breakfast and getting dressed to make t to school on time. Today was a little rough since since she got to bed later than usual last night. At least Thursdays will be “late start” days so she can sleep an extra hour. She’ll need it with church on Wednesday nights. Check out today’s little art project here.

9 days to go!
August 5th, 2009

We’re counting down the days until Kindergarten starts and the Woog is so excited. You can read more from me here, but we’re celebrating each day with art. We haven’t nailed down exactly what we’ll do, but some days we’ll be on our own and others will work on a piece together.

Here’s what she came up with for today’s art. Her at school in her new plaid skirt (her uniform):

Farm Journal #3
June 24th, 2009

Entry’s from the Woog’s farm journal:

Caught fireflies from the first time (the other page is a sad tiger-??)

Here she is with a sunburn (she didn’t get one because I bathe her in sun screen) – guess she just wanted to see what she’d look like and then a spider on the right page

We stopped by Sonic for a cherry limeade and she drew the logo from my cup (she draws a lot of logos from things) and then “practicing her stars” on the right page

This weekend I want to try and take in a night of star watching. Hopefully we’ll get a clear night!

You can see my visual account of the weekend here.

More from the farm journal
June 17th, 2009

This is the second entry in the Woog’s farm journal. She saw, what she claims to be. her first firefly, but she’s seen them before. It was about to storm so we couldn’t catch any but plan to this weekend. She likes it hilarious that their “bottoms light up.”

firefly & “rainbow” flower

The next day she found a little snail and wanted to draw it along with a nice big tree.

butterfly (written) & “Mr. Snaily”

We also hung her a swing from the tree in the front yard that you can see here.

Our Summer Adventure
June 9th, 2009

Our Woogie Wednesdays will be turning into Woogie Weekends this summer and probably continue from now on. Since the Woog will start Kindergarten in the fall, Wednesdays will be full of school work during the day and church a night. We’ll see what we can fit in during Wednesdays though.

This summer we’ve decided to spend our weekends on my grandparent’s farm, enjoying the outdoors while doing some improvements to the farm house. I blogged about this more on my blog if you wanted to know more.

These weekends will consists of different “art” projects for the Woog and I. This past weekend was our first weekend and we both started an illustrated journal to document our summer. She didn’t get into it as much as I did but still drew some pictures about what she saw as we explored the farm.
